FOX TROTTIN’ HISTORY IN THE MAKING

The First Registered Fox Trotter Goes to England!

Velvet’s Irish Sensation will be making Fox Trottin’ history in late August of 2002 when she arrives at her new home in Suffolk, England! Irish was owned by Alicia Morrison of Star Gait Fox Trotters in New Mexico. Alicia sold Irish to Jeannie & Stephen MacMillian of Suffolk, England. After months of communication across the miles, Alicia & Jeannie worked out the details of shipping Irish overseas. Hundreds of emails, videos & photos were exchanged! The ‘ladies’ handled it all! It felt like the adoption of a precious child, each approving of the other.

To be sure that Irish was bitted & saddled correctly for the new owners, Alicia even ‘shopped’ for all the Fox Trotter gear to be shipped along with the mare. Fashion conscious readers will be delighted to know that Irish will make her ‘English’ fashion statement in a stunning pecan leather bridle adored with silver hearts, a matching saddle, royal blue saddle pad, along with all the coordinating accessories!

Irish, standing at 15 hands, is a beautiful sorrel mare out of World Grand Champion, GMC’s Black Velvet and the ‘Sensation’ blood line foaled in 1998. The mare has been shown in Arizona & California, since the spring of 2001, consistently placing in the ribbons! Jeannie plans to ride Irish in endurance & along side her husband’s 17+ hand draft horse! Alicia has encouraged Jeannie to continue Irish’s show career in Europe…as she most certainly will ‘mop up’ over there!

Irish’s fabulous linage will continue on in New Mexico with Irish’s brother, Velvet’s Red Mars, out of ‘Velvet’ and the Tom’s Travel Master blood line. He is a stunning rich chestnut with a flax mane & tail! Bookings are now being accepted by Alicia for the 2003 season for live cover, as well as shipped semen.

Many thanks go to: Lothar Rowe, owner of GMC’s Black Velvet (standing in Germany) of Miller Ranch for the use of his quarantine pasture; Jennifer Miller, DVM for her expertise preparing the mare for shipment; USDA vet, Dr Evelyn Williams; Pegasus Transport of Germany.
